STOURBRIDGE will start their pre-season schedule by welcoming Old Halesonians to Stourton Park on Saturday.
The friendly contest, which will start at 3pm, could see Stour's squad feature two players who appeared in last weekend’s televised Premiership 7’s tournament – centre Gary Dipple, from Leicester Tigers, and London Irish winger Jamie Hearn.
With Director of Rugby Neil Mitchell hoping to make it third time lucky in the promotion chase, the majority of last season’s squad have been retained, though some exciting new recruits have been added and this will be their first opportunity to impress.
Stourbridge Lions will also be playing their first warm-up game at the same time, hosting Solihull-based Old Yardleians.
Entry to both games is free and food and refreshments will be available.
Last Saturday saw the club host its annual Mel Williams memorial tournament, with over 150 players of all ages and abilities competing. The event raised
£1,300 on the day for Midland Air Ambulance.
