RESIDENTS were urged to keep their windows and doors closed after a fire ripped through a scrapyard in Lye.
Just before 4:45 am on Wednesday, May 11, four fire engines attended a scrapyard fire on Bromley Street.
Nearby residents were advised to keep their doors and windows closed.
Scrap vehicles and tyres have been destroyed, leaving the scrapyard full of charred goods.
A spokesperson for West Midlands Fire Service said: "At 4.40 am on Wednesday 11 May, West Midlands Fire Service were called to reports of a fire on Bromley Street, Stourbridge.
"Crews from Brierley Hill, Haden Cross, Oldbury and Stourbridge attended a scrapyard fire and used three main jets and two hose reels to bring the incident under control, working with West Midlands Police to secure a cordon.”
The cause of the fire is unknown at this stage and no one was injured, added the fire service.
