A MIDNIGHT Walk around the streets of Wordsley and Kingswinford has pulled in more than £11,000 for Mary Stevens Hospice.
Almost 200 women took part in the popular hospice fundraiser which started at Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club at 11pm on Saturday (May 21).
Many donned trendy pyjamas, flashing bunny ears and fancy dress to take on either a 6.5-mile walk or a nine-mile route after warming up with a Zumba workout led by fitness instructor Gemma Webster from Stourbridge’s Fitness Factory.
Janet Jones, head of fundraising at the Oldswinford hospice, said the event has so far raked in £11,100 for the charity which relies on donations from members of the public to help cover its £2.3m annual running costs.
Janet added: “I must pay tribute to Dudley Kingswinford Rugby Club for allowing us the use of their grounds and particularly to their groundsman Ken Morrisey who has been such a great help in moving equipment around and supporting all that we did.
“Thanks must also go to our volunteers, marshals, and walk leaders who gave up their time, particularly on such a windy night, to ensure the ladies enjoyed a safe, trouble free walk.”
