A NUMBER of students from across Dudley borough took advantage of an apprenticeship aspiration evening held at Stourbridge College.
Stourbridge MP Margot James channelled her inner Lord Alan Sugar as she hosted the evening, which saw young people meet a range of apprenticeship providers including Barclays, the NHS, and Vestia Community Trust.
Students and parents were given the chance to browse an apprenticeship ‘marketplace’ and speak to a range of companies, as well as Stourbridge College workshops, to discover more about what they have on offer.
Ms James said: “Apprenticeships are a really worthwhile option for a lot of young people, enabling them to learn and earn at the same time.
“That is why as a Government, we have pledged to create another three million apprenticeships by 2020.
“It was wonderful to see so many students and parents attending my event, and I hope that everyone who came along feels more informed and confident about making those important choices about their future.”
Attendees were also invited to hear presentations designed to give them more information on what an apprenticeship entails, and how to go about applying for one.
