A STOURBRIDGE dad has organised a charity football match to take place this weekend to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Norton father-of-two Neil Gibbons, who runs motorcycle parts firm Racing Planet UK, has organised the event, taking place at Haybridge High School, Hagley, on Sunday February 4, which will see the coaches of West Hagley FC take on the parents of players from the club.
Ex-West Bromwich Albion pros Richard Sneekes and Ian Hamilton will also be putting in an appearance at the event which will also include a penalty competition and cross bar challenge for kids.
Kick off is at 2.30pm and there will be a raffle and other prize-winning activities laid on plus drinks and hot pork sandwiches for sale.
There will also be a post-match presentation at West One from 4.30pm.
Neil, one of the U8 team coaches, has organised the match as part of fundraising efforts for Macmillan which he hopes to raise £3,000 for.
He is also holding a quiz and curry night, bring and buy/ coffee and cake sale at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School, Norton, on Saturday February 10 from 10am to midday - and he is getting set to run the London Marathon in April to pull in the pounds for the charity.
Anyone wishing to make a donation to the cause can do so online at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/neilgibbons0.
No stranger to charity challenges - Neil, aged 40, was among a four-strong team who in 2016 took on the gruelling Fan Dance challenge, which follows the 24km SAS selection route on the Pen Y Fan mountains in the Brecon Beacons, to raise money for a Stourbridge tot suffering from a rare form of epilepsy.
