THE Old Halesonians Pirates showed their potential as they tasted tournament success.
The club’s Under-9s made a short trip across to Kings Norton for the annual mini’s rugby contest last Sunday.
With teams from seven other clubs taking part it promised to be a good competitive day.
Teams were initially split into two pools of five teams with the top three each progressing through to the later stages of the competition and and the chance to compete for silverware.
Wins over Kings Norton Reds, Bromsgrove and Droitwich in their pool games saw them through to the final.
Kings Norton Blacks topped pool A and provided the opposition for the final. A fantastic match ensued with both teams tight in defence before Hales eventually came out on top after an extra-time golden try.
