A PLAY by the writer and creator of Doreen is set to tour the West Midlands - starting from this week.
David Tristram's The Secret Lives of Henry and Alice is to be performed at a host of venues across the region.
Doreen star Gill Jordan stars as bored housewife Alice Smith with Midlands actor Tom Roberts, who has appeared in Doctors, Emmerdale and Coronation Street among other TV shows, starring as husband Henry in the show about a long-married couple who fantasise their way into outlandish situations to escape the tediousness of their everyday lives.
The play, which has a dramatic twist at the end, was first published in 2001 and has been staged professionally in a number of countries including South Africa, Turkey, Germany, Australia, Mexico, Malta and Argentina. It is also a favourite on the amateur dramatic festival circuit.
Black Country playwright David Tristram, from Quarry Bank, says he has revitalised the award-winning comedy and he is now set to take on directorial duties and take it on the road in the UK for the first time.
The play, which contains strong language and adult themes, is suitable for theatregoers aged 15 and above.
Tickets are available online from doreen.tv.
