ROOTS and blues trio Mumbo Jumbo are performers at the top of their game with a chance of scooping a national award.
The band, whose bassist Chris Lomas lives in Wordsley, are in the final ten of the best songwriter/original song category, called the KT Award, of the British Blues Awards with their track Nice Work.
Band members Chris Lomas, Abby Brent and Oliver Carpenter have been telling the Base Sessions team about the blues, the award and how fans can do their bit to put Midlands songwriting at the forefront of the genre.
Nice Work, which comes from the band's album Life of Riley, was nominated by industry insiders and won through a round of public voting to make the final stage of the awards, which will also be decided by a public vote.
Mumbo Jumbo, who boast a collective 115 years making music, play eclectic blues with a contemporary twist which blues journalist Linda Fisher said is "guaranteed to raise the spirits".
The Base Sessions is recorded and produced by Base Media in Stourbridge.
