STOURBRIDGE band The Wonder Stuff are preparing to mark a milestone in their history with two unusual live gigs.

The group, who sold over three million albums and headlined some of the biggest shows in the UK, are celebrating the 20th anniversary of their first album release.

The Eight Legged Groove Machine was hailed as the finest debut album of its time and produced a series of hit singles including Unbearable, A Wish Away and Give Give Give Me More More More.

The Wonder Stuff are getting set to celebrate with shows at London's Shepard's Bush Empire and the Carling Academy, Birmingham, in October.

The band, featuring original Stuffies Miles Hunt and Malcolm Treece, will be performing the entire Groove Machine album along with classics and rare tunes from a catalogue spanning over two decades.

Following the release of the Groove Machine the band's profile rose rapidly and they went on to produce 17 top twenty singles and another four top 20 albums.

Their chart success peaked with a top four spot for the single Size of A Cow, from the 1991 album Never Loved Elvis, and a number one collaboration with comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer for the track Dizzy.

Over the years the band's line up altered dramatically although the current five-piece, which features drummer Andres Karu, bassist Mark McCarthy and fiddle player Erica Nockalls, has remained unchanged since 2005.

Meanwhile Miles and Erica are spending the summer performing smaller gigs at more intimate venues including a show at Wolverhampton's Little Civic on Friday June 6.

The Wonder Stuff will be rolling into Dudley on Saturday July 5 for a show at JB's, before returning to Birmingham for the Groove Machine anniversary gig on Thursday October 30.
