STOURBRIDGE born tenor Nathan Vale is returning to sing in his hometown after performing at the prestigious last night of the Proms concert recorded by the BBC.
Nathan, who sang a solo in Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, first sang as a chorister at St Thomas’s Church under the present musical director Andrew Fletcher.
He studied at the Royal College of Music before gaining a scholarship with the Benjamin Britten International Opera School and won the London Handel Singing competition.
He has also performed in St Paul’s Cathedral, Birmingham Symphony Hall and with the London Mozart Players, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra and he recently sang in Handel’s Messiah with world-renowned conductor Sir Neville Mariner.
The concert takes place on Saturday October 11 at St Thomas’s Church, Market Street, Stourbridge, starting at 7.30pm, and proceeds will go to the church’s restoration appeal.
Nathan said: “It's always very special coming back to Stourbridge because of all the happy memories and familiar faces, but it's even more special this time as the funds raised will go straight back to the church which started my musical career.”
Reverend Ron Curtis said: “We are very grateful to Nathan for taking the time to support our fund-raising at St Thomas’s.
“So many people remember his time as a chorister here and have followed his career seeing it go from strength to strength. Everyone is really looking forward to this event.”
Admission to the event is £6 on the door, with concessions available.
Advance tickets are available through Andrew Fletcher on 0121 443 2475.
