STOURBRIDGE born acoustic singer/songwriter Nigel Passey will be back at The River Rooms next week as part of a UK tour.
Nigel, who has just completed a degree in popular music at Leeds College of Music, will be stopping off at the Mill Race Lane venue on Tuesday June 28 as part of a tour of England, Ireland and Scotland.
The date is the 21-year-old’s first hometown appearance in a year which has seen him busy gigging and plugging his debut album ‘The Lights, The Sound and The People’.
He told the News: “I haven’t stopped gigging and the album has had a lot of success in Leeds. The launch night sold out and the album’s also had some radio play in London.
“But it’ll be good to be back in Stourbridge, I love the River Rooms - it’s always a special place as I did one of my first gigs there.”
Nigel, who takes inspiration from the Goo Goo Dolls and Damien Rice, has recently returned from Denmark where he and his band headlined the Silkeborg music festival.
He added: “Because of this festival we are currently in talks about touring Europe next year with a band we met while playing. We are having so much fun.”
Joining Nigel at the River Rooms will be university pal and funk act Tom Gee from Bradford.
The gig kicks off at around 7.30pm. Admission is £4 on the door.
