A BIG-HEARTED Stourbridge student hopes to pull in pounds for Comic Relief by staging a charity gig at the town's Rock Cafe 2000.

Danny Tristram, of Chaucer Road, Amblecote, has lined-up a host of bands to take to the stage at the Mill Race Lane venue tonight (Thursday March 15).

And the 16-year-old Kidderminster College student hopes the Red Nose Day bash - featuring Tone Deaf, ADH, The Unknown, Disillusioned and an acoustic set by fellow college student Alanah Jones - will help drum up around £400 for the national fundraising effort.

Danny said: "Every year I watch the Red Nose Day appeal and everybody puts so much effort in but they never quite reach the target so we're helping do our bit.

"What infuriates me most is when people just talk about doing something without doing anything. If you want to help you have to do something useful and that's what this concert is about."

Tickets are available on the door. The event kicks off at 7pm.

Stourbridge all-girl rock band Farewell in December will also be doing their bit for Comic Relief. They will be taking to the stage at the Rock Cafe 2000 on Sunday March 18, along with a host of bands including When Autumn Falls.
