A BOROUGH venue is getting set to host one of the most outrageous live comedians in British variety.
Freddie Starr has been entertaining audiences with his unpredictable performances since the 70s when he established himself as a TV superstar.
Success took its toll and by the 80s, pressure of a punishing workload and doubts from TV bosses about his on-screen antics caused his career to take a nosedive.
Despite a drop in popularity Starr retained a loyal fan base and regained the media spotlight after a newspaper reported he ate a hamster live on stage.
The story was false but the notoriety gave the entertainer’s profile a boost culminating in the highly successful ITV show An Audience With Freddie Starr - which attracted 12 million viewers.
Although TV companies still shy away from giving Starr his own series, his live shows continue to attract large crowds.
Freddie Starr will be performing at Dudley Concert Hall on Saturday October 4.
