Anything Goes - Kinver Light Operatic Society
IT certainly was anything goes' when Kinver Light Operatic Society brought to life Cole Porter's classic nautical musical.
Set on an ocean liner heading from London to New York, the comic show features some delighftul musical numbers - but lead stars Claire Jackson and David Shaw were completely out of their depth when trying to pull them off.
That said, however, what they lacked in singing ability - they made up for with characterisation.
Claire Jackson oozed confidence as bubbly blonde Reno Sweeney, delivering the character's dry remarks perfectly.
While David Shaw may have struggled to hit the high notes, but he also brought the love-struck character to life swimmingly.
Charlotte Wood as his sweetheart Hope Harcourt was on fine form following on from her hit outing as Eliza Dolittle in KLOS's last musical outing, My Fair Lady, last year.
Nick Sullivan was hilarious as her gushing intended Lord Evelyn Oakeigh. He had the audience in stitches with his overly enthusiastic portrayal.
And Joanne Gubbins lit up the stage as gangster's moll Erma.
Meanwhile, the society's talented musicians held the lively show together and choreography by Lisa Dignam was thoroughly enjoyable - especially an energetic ensemble routine to the title tune, Anything Goes.
Glitzy costumes and colourful supporting characters also added to the atmosphere of this fun-filled show at Kinver's Edgcliffe School.
Although not the most polished of productions, it was still a toe-tapping treat to watch.
