OLD Halesonians RFC got back to winning ways with a thumping 43-0 victory over Ludlow.
The Midlands One West leaders ensured last week’s defeat to Walsall was a mere blip as they totally dominated their sorry opponents.
With the home forwards in the ascendancy, Dan Young scored two early pushover tries to establish a 10-0 lead.
The forward dominance continued when, from a line-out 15 metres from the Ludlow line, a driving maul made way for Tom Jordan to muscle his way over.
Tim Breakwell increased the advantage further when he burst out of a maul early in the second period. Ludlow simply had no answer as Tom Harris added a fifth try soon after.
Further scores from Luke Smith and Eoin McMahon completed the rout.
Old Hales remain three points clear of Worcester at the top ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Barker Butts.
A mixture of second and third team players were unfortunate to lose just 11-10 to Redditch firsts.
Redditch dominated possession in the early stages and were rewarded with the opening try from close range.
But Old Hales had complete control of the lineout and following a kick over the top from Adam Whiteman, Jamie Leach picked up to score.
A penalty ensured Redditch lead 8-5 at the break and a further kick early in the second half extended the advantage to six points.
But Whiteman ensured a nervy finish when he touched down.
Old Hales fourths lost 19-10 to King’s Norton seconds.
