STOURBRIDGE Lions pulled out all the stops this week to blitz top of the table Earlsdon 49-22 and revive their own Midlands Two West South prospects at the same time.
The lead repeatedly changed hands during the first half, the Lions points arriving from a trio of tries through James Meakin, Scott Langdon and James Mitchell, who also added a conversion as the score finished up 17-17 by the break.
The Lions really cut loose in the second half as they breached Earlsdon’s try-line on six further occasions as winger Danny Cox, centre Aaron Boffey , Harry Wainwright and skipper Stuart Doolittle added their names to the scoresheet with Meakin and Langdon both hammering home victory with their second tries of the afternoon.
Sam Wilson completed the scoring with another conversion.
The result means Lions remain fifth in the table, but are just three points adrift of leaders Earlsdon and will look to build on this result when they travel to second-placed Spartans on Saturday.
It proved a successful week for the Stourton Park club as the Lions second string despatched Kidderminster Seconds 41-0, while Lions B beat Kiddy’s Third side 23-17.
The Lions Third side, known locally as the Grasshoppers, also had an excellent day defeating Ross on Wye Seconds 72-0 in a Merit Table game.
