STOURBRIDGE'S battle for a play-off place could take a decisive step this Saturday when they travel to title-chasers Chesham United.
Glassboys boss Gary Hackett has backed his side to maintain the fine form that has seen them continue to challenge for a top five finish as the campaign comes to the boil.
They continued their play-off fight when beating AFC Totton 3-0 at the Memorial Ground last Saturday thanks to goals from Louis Harris, Ben Billingham and Netan Sensara.
Stourbridge welcomed their famous record-breaking team of 1973-74 back to Amblecote for the game, but this weekend will have a huge impact on whether the class of 2014 can repeat their promotion heroics.
They now lie in fifth place just a point ahead of Hungerford in sixth and four ahead of Poole in seventh. However, both have a game in hand.
Hackett said: "Saturday's game against Chesham will be as tough as it gets. But, in a one-off game, I think this side is capable of beating anyone.
"We are in fine form, have taken 18 points out of the last 21, and the players are feeling very confident going into the run-in.
"We are not the sort of team that sits back and parks the bus. We will go to Chesham and attack."
By the time Gary Hackett’s men return to the Memorial Ground on Easter Monday to face Banbury United they will have a far clearer view of whether they will feature in the play-off picture due to Hungerford playing their game in hand tonight .
Stourbridge's last game will see them travel to Hitchin.
The club has been boosted this week by the news that star men Sean Geddes and Ben Billingham have signed new deals that will run until January 2016.
Hackett said: "It is great that Sean and Ben have signed new deals. It gives the whole club a lift going into a crucial stage of the season.
"They have seen the progress the club has made both on and off the pitch. Work behind the scenes means we are now in a real position to move forwards."
