SCOUTS are set to reappear in Wollescote after an absence of several years.
A new Beavers group is already up and running at Wollescote Scout Group's new Queensway base.
And leaders are optimistic that a Cubs section will follow by the end of October.
Scouts ceased to operate in Wollescote five to six years ago following a lack of leaders.
Current Group Scout leader Kay Bargewell said: "There was never a shortage of youngsters. We have our own building which has been going to waste, but it has operated as a youth club for the past couple of years, even though it has become pretty run down. It does need a complete refurbishment.
"However, we did have a building and a waiting list of youngsters wanting to join, so it was a district decision to try and get the group back up and running again."
Wollescote already has a maximum of 24 Beaver Scouts. They hope to follow with Cubs, Scouts, Explorers and Network, all meeting once a week.
But the Scouts will only survive if enough leaders come forward to keep the group going.
An appeal has been launched for leaders, financial support and volunteers who would be prepared to help work on the building.
