A Cradley Heath couple who fell in love at first sight have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
Stan and Merle Tromans, of Haden Park Road, met 51 years ago at the Civic in Old Hill, where they went dancing.
Merle said: "Stan asked me out ten times before I agreed to go out with him. I kept refusing because I thought he was a kid, so he wore his army uniform to prove to me he wasn't so then I agreed!"
The couple got engaged five weeks later on Valentine's Day and married a year later at Old Hill Church.
These days they enjoy dancing, flower arranging and photography.
The happy couple's anniversary was slightly dampened as they were both ill on the day, so celebrated at home with sons Stephen and Paul and their six grandchildren.
Stan, now aged 71, and Merle, aged 70, both agree the success to a happy marriage is give and take and love.
