Putting your best foot forward is easier said than done for many people, but no one should have to put up with painful feet - they can be successfully treated.
That's the message of Anna Murphy, lead chiropodist at the newly opened Wollaston Chiropody Clinic in Wollaston High Street. She is a keen advocate of regular treatment which benefits not just the foot area, but the whole body. Knee, back and even neck pain can often be triggered by foot and posture problems.
Wollaston Chiropody Clinic offers a full range of treatments for common foot ailments: callouses, corns, ingrowing toenails, bunions and fungal nail conditions. They are all part of a days work for Anna. She can also assist those whose mobility problems prevent them from caring for their own feet and offers home visits.
During a consultation both feet are examined and assessed for function and mobility to ensure that treatment is tailored to individual needs.
There are many conditions which have health implications for the feet - diabetes, types of arthritis, kidney problems and poor circulation to name but a few. These complaints can lead to a risk of ulceration as a result of the associated problems of reduced sensation, poor circulation and decreased resistance to infection. Proper chiropodial care that includes vascular and neurological assessments, can identify areas that are most at risk so that preventative measures can be taken.
Our feet can cover over 100,000 miles in a lifetime so it makes sense to ensure that they are well looked after.
Let Wollaston Chiropody Clinic put the spring back into your step Opening Times: Mon, Wed & Thur : 8.30 - 5pm, Tues: 8.30 - 7pm, Fri: 9 - 1pm. Home visiting/evening appointments available.
