The Yeltz hauled themselves back into play off contention after claiming a late winner against Chippenham at the Grove.
The goal was however shrouded in controversy with the visitors Ian Herring lying injured at the time of Junior Brown's deflected winner.
The visitors came into the game on a five match winning run, but it was the Yeltz who made the better start, as Alex Cowley saw a rasping drive well saved by Chris Snoddy. From the resulting corner, Matt Lewis saw his effort cleared off the line by Herring.
This served as a wake up call for Chippenham and they were unlucky not to take the lead in the 14th minute. Stuart Pierpoint failed to deal with Herring's long ball upfield and allowed Dave Gilroy through, but James Dormand dived bravely at his feet to prevent him getting a shot away.
The lively Gilroy made amends soon after, when he gave Chippenham the lead after heading home a Gavin Eyre's free kick.
Cheered on by a healthy crowd Halesowen managed to get level just before the break, when the returning Lee Williams latched on to a one two with Simon Forsdick to cooly slot away.
The Yeltz though were lucky to be level at half time, when Gilroy had another effort saved by Dormand.
The second half started slowly although Paul Devlin saw Snoddy make a flying save to keep out his 20-yard effort.
Williams was then denied his second goal of the game on 70 minutes when in front of goal, Iain Harvey made a terrific tackle .
Then came the controversial moment when Halesowen struck the winner on 79 minutes. Brown-making only his second start- saw his shot take a deflection that saw the ball loop over Snoddy and into the net, to the fury of the visiting players.
Chippenham forced three injury-time corners, but to no avail as Halesowen held onto the three important points and skipped above the Bluebirds on the edge of the play-off zone.
