As the first skirmishes of Cycling's Circuit Racing season got underway Halesowen A & CC's riders performed admirably at the Milton Keynes Bowl.
The women's race saw a complicated handicapping system unravel over a distance of 35km to culminate in a terrific sprint finish which saw Halesowen's Jessica Booth emerge victorious.
In the main men's race of the day Carl Gregory, Jim Varnish and Ian Cooper competed strongly in a race littered with incident as riders tried to adjust from the winter's road training to close quarter racing although the Halesowen trio avoided any potential trouble to finish the race intact.
In the U16s event Matt Bailey was part of a breakaway in the last quarter of the race to finish in a creditable third place with Daniel Harris finishing strongly in the bunch.
The U12s race saw Emily Kay ride away from a strong field consisting mainly of boys to dominate her event throughout to take another fine victory for the Manor Abbey based club.
