BRIERLEY Hill High Street shops are set to sparkle after a £400,000 scheme made a revamp possible.

The Traders Association's High Street Property Investment Scheme is being run by Brierley Hill Traders Association, Dudley Council, Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership and Westfield Merry Hill to help the area.

Westfield has contributed £200,000 to the scheme to help renovate the shops.

The first four properties to benefit from this project are Select and Save, Fresh Fruits, Unique Lighting and 65A High Street.

Shane Bastock, Brierley Hill Traders Association said: "It's fantastic to see the improvements along the High Street.

"I think all businesses are grateful Westfield Merry Hill offered £200,000 to support local business that will now hopefully see over £400,000 of a new investment into the High Street.

"The Association is also grateful for the support from Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership and Dudley Council in administering this scheme."

The High Street Property Improvement scheme aims to support business in Brierley Hill town centre, improve the environment,support business growth and new ventures.

It will also encourage further investment into the area creating new jobs and safeguarding existing employment.

Westfield's Brierley Hill development executive Steve Hassel said: "Westfield Merry Hill is delighted to support the High Street Traders' Property Improvement scheme.

"We want to see a vibrant and successful High Street to complement the Merry Hill and Waterfront.

"We are committed to the positive regeneration of Brierley Hill."

Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership is supporting this scheme and its key objectives are to create over 10,200 new jobs by 2020, provide new homes, deliver transport infrastructure and provide training opportunities.

Director of Select and Save, Mani Singh, said: "I'm grateful to the Traders' Association and Westfield Merry Hill for the financial support of £5,700 for our new shop front signs and improved CCTV system.

"We can continue to offer customers a friendly and safe environment where they can get the lowest prices and best value in this area for a wide range of convenience goods."
