Manager Geoff Moss was thrilled as Lye Town put their recent poor run behind them with a thumping 4-1 over relegation threatened Ledbury.
The comfortable victory ended a run of two consecutive defeats against struggling opposition. And the manager said it was a fair reward for his players efforts in recent matches: "The lads played really well and I'm delighted with them. It was an excellent performance, especially when you consider the poor results we have had and the fact we were without four players with suspension and injury."
"We took our chances really well and that was the main difference from prevous weeks."
Town will be denied the chance to build on the win as they are confined to cup action only in the next fortnight. They are due to travel to Alvechurch in a rearranged knockout on Thursday before travelling to big-spending Shifnal in the League Cup next Tuesday and manager Moss was bemoaning his team's luck in cup competitions. "We have had some really tough draws," he said. "We have had Shifnal, Alvechurch and Sutton Coldfield in the cup's this season and we feel a little hard done by."
Meanwhile the Lye chief confirmed that suspended duo of Matt Blakemore and Ash Greenaway would both return to the squad but added that he would need to monitor the fitness of injured pair Mark Batch and Luke North.
