A Halesowen charity shop has teamed up with an internet auctioneer to start selling its valuable donations on eBay.
Acorns charity shops often receive valuable items from its kind-hearted donors and they have decided to take advantage of the online auction site.
The children's hospice charity has joined forces with Blue Ocean Solutions and Auctioning 4u who valuate, photograph and list the items on eBay for them.
The charity shop in Halesowen High Street was recently donated a six set Royal Albert Old Country Rose set which they hope will raise around £350.
This exciting new venture allows Acorns to market its high-value donations to a worldwide audience of an estimated 180 million eBay uses.
The charity hopes it can achieve higher prices for the items than they can realistically ask for in the shops.
Paula Rigby, shop manager said: "We've got some items on eBay, including a washing bowl and jug, which raised £120, more than double what we normally expect in shop sales.
Dennis Hyde, Acorns Merchandising Manager said: "This is a really exciting venture for us.
"Moving into the world of eBay will help Acorns to get a better price for unusual goods, and assure supporters that their item will achieve a price reflecting its true value."
Acorns Children's Hospice provides care for hundreds of life-limited children and their families from across the West Midlands.
Through the work of their hospices and their dedicated community team, the charity are able to give respite, end-of-life care and 24-hour support for the whole family.
