The White Horse BC's Quarry Bank galloped into the finals of the Tony Pagett Memorial Open after winning his qualifying games 21-13,21-19 and 21-16.

Also through to the finals is double Warwick and Worcester Champion John Evans, Andy Haddock from the Tally Ho BC and Richard Howson from Sheffield.

The latest qualifiers in the Tipton and Coseley BS Open at West Bromwich included the Staffordshire duo of Chris Marshman and Mick Ledwidge along with Warwick and Worcester county stars Gary Morton and Gavin Dunkley.

It is on very few occasions over the years that a team from the White Horse at Quarry Bank have been relegated but that is the case for the clubs team in Cookley Indoor League Division One although winning their game against bottom placed Wollescote.

At the other end of the table DMBEC C' continued to dominate the League clinching an impressive 22-14 win over Hilly House, who themselves are also relegated. Netherton Cons had a much needed win 19-12 against the Swan to retain second spot.

Youngsters Jamie Wyatt, Glyn Wyatt and Barry Faulkner won 19-4 for Woodman Mount Pleasant who thrashed Woodman Saltwells 26-18.

Tallboats were sunk by Talbot Oldboys losing 26-9. Stourbridge Labour saw their challenge for second spot receive a set back when they could only draw with DMBEC A' 13 each.

Cradley Labour are the Division Two Champions after winning 22-10 over Cradley Libs B'. After a determined effort all season Wordsley Green will have to make do with the runners up prize as they lost to War Memorial in a nail biting clash 17-16. Coombs Woold are chasing third place even though they lost their latest encounter to BSC.

BCGBA Chief Executive John Crowther says that coaching is now recognised as an integral part of the game and that the members of the BCGBA Coaching Scheme do a great job in promoting the game through the coaching of beginners, improvers and experienced bowlers.

Facilities are available for full day coaching sessions at individual clubs with video recordings of delivery action played back to pupils by qualified coaches who are on hand to provide remedial advice where necessary.

The fee for each pupil is £10 and training sessions can be arranged. Further information from National Coaching Administrator Derek Aldridge on 01562 882739.
