Glassboys boss, Gary Hackett, is relishing a crack at Evesham in the Worcestershire Senior Cup after his team knocked rivals Halesowen Town at the War Memorial on Tuesday evening.

A crowd of 388 were present as Stourbridge were grateful to three great saves from goalkeeper Lewis Solly in the penalty shootout to see them through after the match finished 1-1.

Leon Broadhurst opened the scoring for the Glassboys only for Jason Powell to equalise.

The manager was however delighted to see his side hold their nerve and win 4-3 on penalties He said: "It was a really good local derby and it's great to have come through it.

"I think over the 90 minutes and extra time we shaded it and we are all delighted to be in the final and look forward to taking on Evesham."

The boss played down the prospect of a season ending with cup success and promotion, adding: "That would be magnificent and we will give it our best but there is a long way to go yet."

The manager will now put his team's cup heroics on the back burner as they go in search of securing a play-off slot.

The Glassboys will return to the War Memorial on Saturday when they play host to Malvern Town.

The visitors come to town with one of the league's best away records after picking up an impressive eight victories on their travels.

Gary said: "We must now put the cup triumph behind us and get our minds on our home match against Malvern."

The manager will be able to call upon the services of in-form striker Neil Kitching and veteran forward John Williams who were both unavailable for the cup tie.

The boss will also be hoping the influential Broadhurst will be fit after picking up a knock in the Yeltz clash.
