Graham Harrison, the club's chairman and editor and co-author of club publications, presented a talk on the changing habitat and birds of the West Midlands.
The rain arrived at the National Memorial Arboretum, Alrewas, just as the monthly field meeting group set off on foot.
Due to the rain and flooding the visit to Croxall Lakes and Whitemoor Haye were abandoned.
The next indoor meeting will be held on Wednesday March 28 at St Oswald's Church Centre, Broadwaters, at 7.30pm when Brian Draper will be advising on Where to Watch Wildlife along the River Severn. As always non-members will be most welcome. Admission charges for member £1.50 and non-members £2.
The talk will be preceded at 7pm by the short AGM meeting of the branch.
The destination for the field meeting on Sunday April 1 is Trimpley Reservoir and Eymore Wood meeting on the left-hand side of the road car park at 10am.
Anyone interested in wildlife, birdlife and conservation in general is always welcome to join both our indoor and field meetings. For details or further information contact 01562 67748.
