The first meeting of the newly formed Amblecote Ladies Club took place on Wednesday March 7 with 20 members and two visitors.
The new constitution was approved by members and subscriptions were taken. A steering committee was formed as follows: Chairwoman, Greta Jones; vice chairman, Frances Busby; treasurer, Maureen Green and secretary Kathleen Grainger. An auditor has been appointed.
A full and varied programme has been arranged which will include a dinner, canal boat trip with supper and theatre visit.
Greta Jones welcomed the speaker Patricia Wakelam, an holistic and hypno-therapist who talked to members about the classes she holds.
A vote of thanks was given by Frances Busby Tea hostesses for the evening were Jean Drew, Brenda Adkins, Anne Bolle, Ann Maley and Frances Busby.
The raffle was run by Brenda Price.
The date of the next meeting will be Wednesday April 4, 7.30pm in the Church Hall, Vicarage Road, Amblecote. The speaker will be Keith Cattell who will give an illustrated talk on stained glass.
