Borough wheelchair tennis sensation, Jordanne Whiley, will discover this evening (Thursday) whether she has been successful in this year's prestigious npower Midlands Disability Sports Awards.

In 2006, the 13-year-old went from strength to strength, winning several International Junior titles in Europe as well as claiming a hat-trick of titles at the Wheelchair Tennis Tournament in Cardiff.

Jordanne, who has been nominated for the Young Female Achiever of the Year Award, has also added the Women's Doubles and Junior Girls titles to her impressive collection. In 2006, she secured her first Senior World Ranking inside the top 50 and ended the year at No. 3 in the International Junior Ranking.

Kevin Rodgers, community involvement executive for event sponsor, npower, said: "Jordanne is a young athlete with a huge amount of commitment and ability, she deserves her short listed place.

"The standard of nominations has been excellent, highlighting the fantastic achievements of some of the region's finest athletes."
