POPULAR Stourbridge solicitor Martyn Morgan’s legacy was honoured by two of his former Talbots colleagues who completed a 105 mile cycle challenge in his memory.
Callum Haynes, company associate and head of client relations, and James Gwilliams, firm director, both took up The Aberdovey Bike Ride test, where they cycled from Wolverhampton to the Welsh coastal village.
The annual bike ride saw the pair, alongside 650 other keen cyclists all raising funds for local charities, cover the 105 miles in one day.
Martyn, whose death in December last year shook the town, was also a keen cyclist and charity fundraiser and had previously completed the event with a team from Talbots.
James said: “The ride was a real challenge, however arriving at the Aberdovey coastline feels a real achievement and makes it all worthwhile.
“Martyn headed a Talbots team to Aberdovey in 2012, therefore the event was close to his heart.”
In a joint effort, the fundraising duo collected more than £800 for the children and young people with complex needs at Sunfield, a residential special school based in Clent.
Georgina Forrest, Sunfield’s partnership development manager, said: “Callum and James did fantastically well and have helped to make a real difference.
“They were part of a team of 30, challenging themselves for our boys and girls and we’d like to thank them all for every mile pedalled.
“Collectively they’ve raised over £6,000 towards equipment such as sensory resources and communication aids for our students.”
