PEDESTRIANS will have no alternative route when a public right of way is closed in Pedmore due to railway bridge repairs.
The path, on Worcester Lane, will not be able to be accessed by pedestrians from Monday (January 30), until Friday, May 26.
The closure, which will not affect vehicles, will enable Centurion Site Services, who are acting on behalf of Network Rail, to safely carry out brickwork repairs to the bridge.
Despite initially announcing a diversion will be put in place for pedestrians via Quarry Park Road, a council spokeswoman said it has had to be withdrawn due to “local safety concerns”.
She added: “Regretfully, in this instance there is no alternative route for pedestrians. Every effort will be made to ensure that this essential work is completed as soon as possible.”
