A GROUP of Stourbridge parents will be taking over the play area in Mary Stevens Park to give it a revamp this evening (Tuesday July 18).
Calling themselves the Mary Stevens Park Play Area Fundraisers – the group are getting together to give the tired looking play area a spruce up and a lick of paint as part of Love Parks Week.
From 6pm to 9pm – they will be giving the facility a makeover with paint and brushes generously provided by Dudley Council.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, Dudley’s cabinet member for environmental services, said: “We’ve been working with local volunteers on improving the play equipment at Mary Stevens Park as part of a wider park improvement plan.
“We have provided the group with paint and paint brushes to help brighten the park equipment. It’s wonderful to see local people taking pride in their park and actively working with us to make improvements.”
Group member Francesca Boden said: “It’s something we felt as parents we wanted to do to give it a bit of a spruce up and make it look better.”
Anyone interested in helping out can pop along from 6pm to 9pm. Paint and brushes will be provided.

Further down the line they hope to bid to funding to improve the play facility further.
