A WOLLASTON woman will be braving the shave to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.
As part of a Macmillan coffee morning, hosted by Sue McDowall and Sheila Wrigley at Wollaston Methodist Church, Cobden Street, on Saturday October 7, Sue’s daughter Amy Bethel will be having her hair shaved off to help boost funds for the charity.
The coffee morning will run from 9.30am to 11.30am and brave mum-of-one Amy, aged 30, will saying goodbye to her hair at 11am.
So far, she's raised nearly £400 on an online donation site but she's hoping to reach her target of £500 by the time the day comes to brave the shave.
She said: "My family has been affected by cancer on more than one occasion - I wanted to do something to get people's attention to raise lots of money for this amazing charity."
Her mum Sue, who together with her friend Sheila has been holding an annual coffee morning for Macmillan for many years, said: "It was a surprise to us all when Amy announced a few months ago she wanted to take part in 'Brave the Shave' to help raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
"It seemed fitting for it to take place at the annual Macmillan Coffee Morning held by myself and Sheila, along with our trusty support crew."
Anyone wishing to sponsor Amy can do so by visiting https://bravetheshave.macmillan.org.uk/shavers/amy-bethel.
All proceeds from the event will go directly to Macmillan Cancer Support which helps people affected by cancer.
