A CHARITY night to raise cash to buy a lifesaving 24-hour community defibrillator for Wollescote and Pedmore is taking place this Friday (November 24).
Mitchell Bolton, chairman of Wollescote and Pedmore Community Association, has organised the event which will take place at the Beech Tree Miners Club, Wollescote.
Black Country Wench, Marlene, and singer Quinn Campbell are among the performers lined up for the evening of comedy and live music which will also include a set by Tommy Cooper tribute act Graham Bradley, Kingswinford covers band Lavarious and blues and rock band Calling Card.
Mr Bolton, who previously helped to get a community defibrillator installed in Colley Gate, said it is hoped the event will raise around £1,100 which would pay for the defibrillator and required security box and cover the costs of installing it on the wall outside Wollescote Community Centre which would make it accessible for use in an emergency 24 hours a day.
He told the News: "They're a brilliant piece of equipment. You haven't got to have any previous experience of using one - the machine talks to you and tells you what to do. My aim is to get one for every single ward in Dudley."
Doors open at 7pm A handful of tickets for the event remain available - priced £6 for adults, £5 for under 16s and free for youngsters under three. Call Mitchell Bolton on 07895 304338.
