IT started with a dance for an Upper Gornal couple who have just celebrated 50 years of married life together.
Ken and Anne Brown, of Manor Drive, celebrated their milestone anniversary with a surprise party for family and friends on Friday July 27 and a second party the following day.
The couple met at a dance hall in Upper Gornal when Ken was aged 16 and Anne was 15. They were married at St Mary's Church, Hurst Hill.
Tragically the couple lost three children but their adopted daughter has since had her own daughter.
Ken, aged 71, said: "We have been very well blessed. We've had such a wonderful family.
"I've had a super partner for 50 years although we have had our tragedies.
"We've had a wonderful 50 years of married life."
