A QUARRY Bank domestic abuse survivor and campaigner is getting set to go bald for charity.
Sam Billingham, who runs support group SODA (Survivors of Domestic Abuse), will brave a head shave at a fundraising evening tomorrow (Saturday April 21).
Brave Sam, aged 38, hopes the stunt will help raise cash and awareness of domestic abuse.
The evening, SODA Sam’s Shindig, will take place at the Hare and Hounds, Wynall Lane, Wollescote, from 7pm.
Georgie Dalby of Blaze Hair salon will be shaving off Sam’s hair on the night which is set to feature a raffle, a DJ set and a guest appearance by Megan Reed of The Voice.
Sam, who escaped an abusive relationship in 2006 as a young mum, hopes money raised from the event will help to pay for an office and storage space for SODA - the charitable organisation she set up to help provide support for others experiencing domestic abuse.
She said: “I’m looking for office space so we're trying to raise funds for that. Hopefully we can raise a bit of money - and it should be a really good night where everyone can come and see me have my head shaved.
"I'm quite excited. If it all goes wrong I'll just have to wear a hat and it'll grow back. It's for a good cause. It's only hair."
The event is free to attend.
