STOURBRIDGE Police are looking for volunteers to patrol the streets in Lye.
An appeal has gone out on the Stourbridge Police Twitter feed inviting people keen to help make their community safer and wishing to work with the local police team to get in touch.
The police are currently setting up a Street Watch group on the Peter’s Hill estate and are looking for more volunteers in Lye.
Street Watch sees patrols carried out by members of the public with no police powers. Volunteers patrol in pairs and register each patrol on a website. If they spot suspicious activity they should report it to the police but not get involved.
Groups are managed by a volunteer co-ordinator who keeps a volunteer list and provides advice, guidance and support in consultation with the local police team.
Volunteers must be 18 or over.
To register interest in joining the scheme email streetwatch@west-midlands.pnn.police.uk.
