FIREARMS officers and a police dog helped catch two suspected burglars on the roof of a pharmacy in Cradley Heath this morning (Monday).

One of the men arrested on suspicion of burglary at Pharmacy 365 on Halesowen Road has been taken to hospital to be checked over.

The incident happened at around 5.30am this morning and was a team effort from firearms officers, traffic officers, a dog unit and the force helicopter, who swooped as the raid was in progress.

One of the men was found hiding by police dog Snap and the other gave himself up.

A spokesman for West Midlands Police said a 32-year-old man is in police custody and a 46-year-old man has been taken to hospital to be checked over.

Sergeant Fleur Tedstill, of West Midlands Police Dog Section, tweeted this morning: "Just off to bed after a successful night shift.

"Big team effort by @ResponseWMP @NPASMidlands @firearmsWMP @Trafficwmp at a chemist burglary where 2 offenders were on the roof.

"1 got back inside where he was found hiding by @WMPDogs PD Snap after which his mate gave up too!"
