SEVEN further coronavirus related deaths have been confirmed at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

A total of 126 patients being cared for at the hospital, who had tested positive for COVID-19, have now passed away, hospital chiefs confirmed today (April 11).

Diane Wake, Chief Executive of the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said in a statement: "Sadly, we can confirm that 126 patients being cared for at our hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Seven of those have been announced today.

"The patients were aged between 61 and 80 years old and all but one patient had underlying health conditions.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

The news comes as the number of people who died in hospitals across the UK after testing positive for coronavirus increased to 9,875 today, according to figures released by the Department of Health.

A total 403 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Dudley borough, latest figures from Public Health England show.
