TWO further coronavirus related deaths have been confirmed at Russells Hall Hospital, as the UK death tolls exceeds 10,000.

The announcement means a total of 128 patients being cared for at the hospital, who had tested positive for COVID-19, have now passed away.

Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said in a statement: "Sadly, we can confirm that 128 patients being cared for at our hospital, and had tested positive for COVID-19, have died. Two of those have been announced today.

"One patient was in their 60s and one was in their 70s. Both patients had underlying health conditions.

"Our thoughts and condolences are with the families and friends of those patients at this very difficult and distressing time."

The news comes as the number of coronavirus patients to have died in hospitals in the UK surpassed 10,000, with a total of 10,612 deaths confirmed by the Department of Health today (April 12).

Latest figures from Public Health England show a total of 411 people have tested positive for coronavirus in the Dudley borough.
