HORROR film fans and amateur movie makers can busy themselves during lockdown by entering an online film festival.

Stourbridge actor Alan Birch has organised the competition following the success of the first-ever Black Country Horror Shorts Film Festival which his Weeping Bank Productions company held in February.

He said: "Amidst all the doom and gloom, there has been a lot of creative stuff inspired by the situation the whole world finds itself in.

"With that in mind, we're asking people to film a two-minute horror on their phones."

The theme for the lockdown film festival is 'isolation' and entries, which can be submitted online at weepingbankproductions.co.uk, will be judged by the winning film-makers from the horror shorts festival.

First prize is a unique T-shirt and Weeping Bank has secured a distribution deal from Meridian Releasing Group (MRG) so a number of the best films from the festival will also win a spot on an upcoming Anthology series called the MRG Collective: Quarantine Edition and it will be distributed through Meridian Releasing Group and available on DVD and Blu-ray on all major platforms including Amazon, Walmart, Best Buy and more so the winners will have their film exposed to a large audience.

Films need to be around two minutes in length and shot on a smartphone. All entries must be submitted by Monday June 1.
