A RETIRED transport manager died of coronavirus after being admitted to hospital following a fall at his care home.

Keith Hughes, aged 61, died at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley - having been admitted after he was found unresponsive on the floor at Amblerley Care Home in Brierley Hill.

Blackheath born Mr Hughes, who had a history of dementia, Parkinsons and anxiety, suffered a fractured hip and underwent a repair but he remained poorly after surgery.

He developed a cough and was found to have COVID-19 and he passed away on April 11.

Joanne Lees, area coroner for the Black Country, told Black Country Coroners Court on Monday April 20 that the cause of death was COVID-19 pneumonia with the fracture and subsequent surgery and frailty contributing and she concluded: "A fall contributed to a natural cause death."
