AN INQUEST has opened into the death of a 47-year-old Halesowen woman.

Michelle Gilbert, who lived in flats at Ankerdine Court, died nine days after falling from a window.

An inquest heard she was taken to A&E at the QE hospital at 7.39pm on Thursday March 12.

Area coroner Joanne Lees said it was a "code red call" and that Ms Gilbert had fallen 10-metres out of a window - with a CT scan showing she had suffered multiple injuries.

The inquest at Black Country Coroners' Court in Oldbury this morning (Tuesday April 21) heard Ms Gilbert was given "extensive medical treatment" and on Tuesday March 21 after she had developed respiratory failure consultants discussed her condition with her family - treatment was discontinued and she sadly died shortly after at 1.49pm.

Mrs Lees said the QE hospital had listed the cause of her death as multiple organ failure and severe traumatic injuries, with liver cirrhosis as a contributory factor.

The inquest heard Wolverhampton-born Ms Gilbert was single.

Mrs Lees opened the inquest and adjourned it to Wednesday May 27.
