CHILDREN across the Dudley borough have come together to wish Captain Tom Moore a very happy 100th birthday, thanks to a local charity.

The children, who have been supported by charity More Mascots Please, have sent their good wishes to the national hero ahead of his birthday on April 30.

Captain Tom Moore has raised an incredible £28 million for the NHS by walking laps of his care home, in a fundraising feat that has united the nation.

To show their thanks, the children have made artwork for the video in which they wish a happy birthday to the Second World War veteran.

The video is thanks to the work of More Mascots Please, a community interest company which helps children across the Dudley borough by raising funds through a team of mascots who perform at events.

The charity was founded by Ceri Davies and since registering in 2013, the organisation has raised over £25,000 and helped more than 500 children.

Ceri, who is from Kingswinford, decided to create a video for Captain Tom Moore featuring a host of children she has worked with to spread some birthday cheer.

Ceri said: "We're so proud of what he has done, his achievement is absolutely amazing given his age.

"He fought against enemies he could see, now the problem is the enemy we cannot see."

More Mascots Please works with disabled, terminally ill and disadvantaged children in the borough and supports their families.

It raises money through fun mascots who perform at events to raise a smile for youngsters, while also teaching the young mascots education skills.

The video was made by people sending in their clips on Facebook as each family is keeping safe at home during lockdown.
