GENDER-NEUTRAL toilets will be installed at a Halesowen secondary school if plans for an extension are given the go-ahead.

Windsor High wants to incorporate a new gender neutral toilet suite into plans to refurbish existing facilities and create seven new toilets in a single-storey extension.

The school on Richmond Street, which is run by Windsor Academy Trust, has submitted a proposal to Dudley Council.

A design and access statement with the proposal reads: "Windsor Academy Trust is a proactive and forward thinking organisation run by an experienced management team and supported by sector specialists.

"Established in 2011, Windsor Academy Trust has grown steadily and now has 7,000 pupils across 9 different academies (which includes four secondary and five primary schools)."

It goes on: "The proposed single-storey extension would contain a new lobby area, as well as four additional toilets for staff.

"The work within the existing building includes the addition of two accessible toilets, as well as one gender neutral toilet suite.

"There will also be the addition of seven extra toilets.

"The extension would be located on what is currently open ground immediately adjacent to existing buildings at the site."

If proposals get the go-ahead there will be two toilets for female staff and two for male staff.

The school has a sixth form and caters for pupils ages 12 to 18.
