THEATRE bosses have extended the coronavirus closure period at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre.

The theatre will now remain closed until Sunday May 31 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many productions have been re-scheduled for later in the year, or into 2021, but a number of productions have been completely cancelled.

Adrian Jackson, chief executive and artistic director of the theatre, said: "It is inevitable, and with extreme sadness, that we remain closed for a further period of time. Throughout this unprecedented period, we have followed Government advice."

He thanked theatre fans for their patience and their warm-hearted letters, emails and comments on social media and added: "Many patrons have been happy for the theatre to retain their ticket money and this will be credited towards a future production. We have also received in excess of £10,000 in donations and for this we are eternally grateful."

Customers who were due to attend shows between Tuesday May 5 and Sunday May 31 will shortly receive communications from the theatre via email or post about their bookings.

Anyone with an urgent enquiry should contact the Customer Services Department by emailing feedback@grandtheatre.co.uk.
