STAFF and residents at a Clent care home have been overwhelmed by the reaction to a video they created to show families unable to visit during the coronavirus lockdown how much they are missed and loved.
Care workers at the Three Roses home - a non-profit charity residential home for people with learning disabilities and dementia - filmed residents holding up messages for their loved ones and uploaded it to Facebook, and it has since notched up more than 20,000 views.
Tracy Mackenzie, activities co-ordinator at the home based in Bromsgrove Road at Holy Cross, said: "The video was our way of showing families, in a heartfelt way, how much they are missed and loved.
"At Three Roses we endeavour to have a family atmosphere. Before COVID-19 and lockdown we were an open house for family and friends to visit whenever they wished.
"We wanted to make sure those family connections remained as this is paramount to the mental well-being of the individuals we support.
"We have been Facetiming, letter writing and phoning families and friends throughout lockdown.
"To our amazement we had over 20,000 views on the video, and lots of lovely comments from friends, family and well wishers - which we read out to everyone. It really lifted their spirits."
She said all fundraising events that were planned at the home have been cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak and added: "We are struggling to provide some things.
"If any companies would be able to kindly donate garden furniture, gazebos, plants or seeds it would really help us and be fantastic to enjoy the summer in our garden."
She said donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks and visors would also be welcomed "so we can continue to keep our individuals as safe as we can".
Donations can be made via the home's Facebook page or people can call 01562 730730.
