STOURBRIDGE MP Suzanne Webb is inviting residents to pay tribute to people who have gone above and beyond to help others during the coronavirus crisis.

Conservative MP Ms Webb has been sharing stories of unsung heroes across Stourbridge who have been going the extra mile to help others as the fight against COVID-19 continues.

Inspired by the actions of Captain Tom Moore, who raised more than £29 million by walking 100 laps of his garden before his 100th birthday, she is inviting others to share their stories on social media, or send them to her to feature on her social media pages.

Ms Webb hopes residents will take part in her campaign by uploading photos and stories of those working in care, the NHS and schools as well as food production or retail or those volunteering in the community to social media using the hashtag #StourbridgeUnsungHeroes.

The MP said: “I have been humbled by the amount of people in Stourbridge who have helped others during this unprecedented time, whether it is voluntary or part of their job.

“Those key workers who have helped keep the country moving deserve recognition and to be thanked for their crucial support.

“I am also very grateful to neighbours who have delivered food to vulnerable people, community groups who have called elderly residents and provided company to those who are self-isolating and others who are making equipment to donate to local services.

“I want to recognise and thank everyone working to keep us safe and help others, and I hope the Stourbridge community will take part in the #StourbridgeUnsungHeroes campaign to thank them for their selflessness and kind acts.”

People can share their own story or that of somebody they know.

Residents can also ask the MP to recognise people by emailing her at suzanne.webb.mp@parliament.uk or call her office on 01384 370574.
