A STEEL business which makes parts for NHS Nightingale hospitals has donated £10,000 to Russells Hall Hospital to aid the fight against Covid-19.

Marcegaglia UK, a family owned business which makes carbon steel tubing, made the generous donation on Thursday (April 30).

The cash has been donated to the Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust's Covid-19 Emergency Appeal which supports staff and patients during the pandemic.

The firm's HQ is based in Netherton and the company has production facilities in Oldbury and Rotherham.

During the pandemic, the company has provided welded tubes for Covid-19 beds and other medical aids to support the rapid creation of temporary Nightingale hospitals across the country.

Marcegaglia UK’s general manager, Nick Haycock presented the cheque to Diane Wake, chief executive of the Trust.

Diane said: “We are so overwhelmed by the community’s kindness during this challenging time. We really appreciate Marcegaglia UK’s generous donation which will make such a big difference.

“The COVID-19 Emergency Appeal helps to fund lifesaving equipment, PPE, care packages, mental health support and accommodation for our frontline staff, as well as improving the experience of our COVID-19 patients and support offered to their families. We cannot thank Marcegaglia UK enough for supporting it.”
